Norfolk Southern Corporation is searching for an RF engineer to paintings at the layout and implementation of a national 220 MHz information radio community.
This network will be the backbone infrastructure in support of a congressional mandated project to install a Positive Train Control system in the US.



Responsibilities

  • Use of the Mentum Planet RF planning software tool to design and optimize wireless networks *Performs spectrum analysis to assess channel loading and interference mitigation
  • Drive testing and coverage validation to confirm RF predictions
  • Liaison to others in the rail industry deploying 220MHz data networks Preparation of technical papers for internal and external presentations
  • Interface with internal departments supporting engineering-level discussions Coordinate with field-forces in support of installation and troubleshooting activities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop systems management tools
  • Work with R&D; staff for trouble resolution and product enhancements Requirements
  • Requires a BS in electrical engineering – Wireless engineering focus preferred *Familiarity with RF planning software tools, Mentum Planet preferred *Familiarity with various types of RF test equipment for test and analysis of RF network performance is desirable
  • Strong competency in RF fundamentals to support the network design process 
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills
